Entry requirements & visas

Entry and visa rules for Lebanon are set by Lebanese authorities, primarily General Security. Requirements depend on your passport, purpose of travel and length of stay. Rules can change — check the requirements that apply to your passport before travel. This page is guidance only and is not a guarantee of admission.

Passports

Travellers generally need a valid passport. Many destinations recommend several months of remaining validity beyond the planned stay — confirm the exact rule for your nationality with General Security or your embassy. Dual nationals should clarify which passport they will use for entry and exit.

Visas

Depending on nationality, travellers may be visa-exempt, eligible for visa on arrival, or required to obtain a visa before travel. Categories can include tourism, transit and other purposes. We do not publish a simplified nationality list here because it becomes outdated quickly. Use General Security’s official channels as the master source, and confirm with your airline if needed.

Customs and restricted goods

Customs rules cover what you may bring into Lebanon, including restricted or prohibited items. Check official customs and General Security guidance before packing. Declarations and allowances can change.

Lost passport and extensions

If your passport is lost or stolen in Lebanon, contact your embassy or consulate and General Security for the process that applies to you. Stay extensions, when available, are handled through official procedures — do not rely on informal advice alone.
